Sarah Bunn has spent her career supporting children and families in multiple capacities. She is a licensed professional counselor, board-certified music therapist, infant mental health specialist, and nationally certified counselor.
Sarah started her journey of working with children at the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor’s degree in music education. She then became interested in working in a more therapeutic capacity, and completed a Master’s degree at Appalachian State University in Music Therapy. After working for a time in the Twin Cities as a music therapist with children and adults with diverse abilities, Sarah returned to Tennessee and completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Clinically, Sarah has primarily served in community mental health agencies focusing on working with young children who have experience trauma and their caregivers, including perinatal and postpartum mental health, and helping families heal from substance use impacts. In working with these families, Sarah has specialized training in interventions and modalities focused on attachment and trauma, including Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Circle of Security-Parenting, Advanced Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International, and an advanced CPP Learning Collaborative focused on families with court involvement.
Sarah has also started her journey in becoming a reflective supervisor to support the growth and development of fellow clinicians. With this goal in mind, Sarah has engaged in RIOS-Level 1 and is currently participating in a CPP Learning Collaborative focused on CPP Supervision. She is also a certified trainer in the Zero to Three DC:0–5™ diagnostic classification system for early childhood.
Through it all, it is the relationship with others that Sarah finds humbling, empowering, and a powerful force for change. She strives to support those she has the honor to work with in an authentic and thoughtful space where they can explore together.
